Tenancy Deposit Protection Report Provides a Solution for Tenancy Disputes

The Tenancy Deposit Scheme’s (TDS) report ‘Tenancy Deposit Protection – an evaluation of the scheme five years on’ has produced plenty of statistics on tenancy deposit disputes such as data on the reasons for tenancy disputes (page 10, Figure 13: TDS data on reasons for disputes deposits).
In 2011 to 2012 cleaning was a reason in 52% of tenancy disputes, damage in 45% of cases and decoration issues in 28% of cases. No real surprises here as these have been the top three reasons for disputes, as you would expect, for all five years the dispute services have been up and running.
Of course the TDS report and the collaborated guide issued by the deposit schemes does offer very valuable advice on the best way to avoid these three types of common dispute.
